Medellín - Nuquí - Medellín  

 

Travel information

Day 1 - Arrival in Medellín

Upon arrival in Medellín at the airport you will be met by our partner. With the private car he will take you to the booked hotel. The rest of the day is at your free disposal. 

 

Day 2 - Continuation to the Pacific coast to Nuquí

From Medellín you fly by small plane to Nuquí on the Pacific coast. At Nuquí airport you will be warmly welcomed by our partner. He will take you by private boat to the Eco-Lodge. It is located in a quiet and dreamlike setting on the beach of the Pacific Ocean. The transfer leads along the coast and takes about 35 minutes. Once you arrive at the lodge, you move into your bungalow and the rest of the time is at your disposal for the first exploration of the surroundings.  

 

Day 3 - First trip by motorboat for whale watching

After a leisurely breakfast the boat is ready for you to start your whale watching tour. The lodge has its own fiberglass boats. The whales are observed from the boat at a minimum distance of about 200 meters. This guarantees that the animals are not disturbed in their natural habitat with their young. In addition, the safety of the guests should be increased at the same time. Even if the humpback whales are rather gentle animals and one can theoretically get even closer to them, the internationally recommended rules for responsible whale watching are observed by the lodge owners with these two measures.  But sometimes it is the whales that curiously approach the boat further, which makes incredible photo shots possible.

 With this tour you will have an unforgettable experience in one of the most natural areas of Colombia. Enjoy the wonder of this wildlife!  

 

Day 4 - Jungle tour to the "Waterfall of Love" (La Cascada del amor)

The tropical rainforest, which with its almost infinite variety of fauna and flora rolls down to the beach, is to be explored today with your guide. The hike starts along the beach and already during the hike you will hear the diverse sounds of the jungle and observe animals. You can observe the beautiful but not harmless small poison dart frogs, many exotic birds, insects, butterflies and monkeys. Beautiful exotic plants, such as orchids, bromeliads, heliconias, etc. are also native to this natural region and give the extensive green of the jungle their colorful splashes of color. Although there are no big slopes to climb up to the waterfall, the high humidity makes you sweat a lot. All the more reason to take a refreshing bath in the natural pool of the "Waterfall of Love". Surrounded by the enchanting nature of the rainforest you can enjoy this idyll. 

 

Day 5 - Second trip by motorboat for whale watching
You cannot get enough of this great natural spectacle of whale watching. That is why the lodge offers you again today the opportunity to observe the giants of the seas in peace and quiet with a second private boat trip. After returning to the lodge, the rest of the time is at your leisure. You can also use this time for sporting activities, such as surfing, paddle surfing, kayaking, etc. Or you can continue to take it easy and enjoy the enchanting ambience of sun, beach and sea from the terrace of your bungalow. 

 

Day 6 - Free time
Arrange this day just as you like. Whether relaxing in a hammock, taking short walks along the beach or active, sporty activities, you are spoilt for choice. The team of the Eco-Lodge is at your disposal with its service. 

 

Day 7 - Return journey to Medellín
After breakfast, a member of the lodge staff will take you back to Nuquí by private boat to the airport. From Nuquí you fly back to Medellín.

 

Information about the flight to the Pacific coast:

The Pacific coast of Colombia is exclusively approached by small airplanes. Therefore the luggage allowance is limited. The following applies: 10-15 kg free luggage and 5 kg hand luggage. This depends on the airline. More luggage is possible on request incl. additional costs. However, excess baggage is not guaranteed due to the limited space available. We therefore recommend that you deposit any excess baggage under lock and key at your hotel in Medellín and collect it when you return from Nuquí.
