Pacific Coast Nuqui

And another special feature distinguishes this region. Every year you can experience a great natural spectacle at close range. Between July and October, the giants of the seas, the humpback whales from Antarctica, move here to give birth to their young in the warm waters. The whales can do this undisturbed, because in this natural oasis, which is hardly developed by tourism, the whales and their young find peace and quiet. No large excursion and tourist boats interfere with their natural habitat, as is known from other regions of the world. In the shallow and warm waters off the nearby coast of Nuquí the animals feel visibly comfortable and so it is nothing unusual to watch their emergence and their "jumps" from the hammock of the lodge. 

Coffee Region

One of the most beautiful and diverse regions of Colombia is without doubt the coffee zone. It is embedded between the central and western Andes (Cordillera). You don't necessarily have to be a framing enthusiast to be fascinated by this wonderful spot with its incredibly varied, hilly and breathtaking landscape. The Coffee Triangle, as it is still called, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011.  

If you suspect that this region consists only of coffee plantations, you will be amazed by one of the most varied landscapes. This is because the coffee zone has recently been called the botanical garden of Colombia. After all, this region is also home to cocoa and a variety of fruit plantations, such as bananas, oranges, pineapples, papaya, marcuja, lulo, etc. This region is also known internationally as a bird paradise. Many exotic birds are indigenous here and quite a few of them are endemic, i.e. they only occur here.  

A further plus point that speaks for the coffee zone is the variety of sporting activities that can be practiced here. The topographical conditions, which have an altitude difference of 1,000 - 5,400 m with the respective KIimazones, make this possible. Fitness and sports enthusiasts get their money's worth in this region. There is something for every taste. Whether active with extensive hikes through the rainforests or on panoramic paths, trekking and mountain bike tours or in a relaxed atmosphere to explore the colonial well preserved villages, ... Caribbean Coast Cartagena & Isla Mucurá

The Caribbean coast in Colombia offers the visitor with a total length of about 1,600 km much variety. Endless beaches, tropical rainforest, the largest coastal mountains in the world, lively cities with Caribbean flair and the cheerful lifestyle of the locals, the Costeños.

Colombia also has a number of island groups in the Caribbean Sea. These include the offshore archipelago of Cartagena, the Islas del Rosario and the San Bernardo Archipelago. About one hour's flight from the coast, the Colombian islands of San Andres, Providencia and Santa Catalina are located in the Caribbean Sea.

Cartagena is a picture book city. It is rightly called one of the most beautiful colonial cities in South America with enormous historical importance. So it is very obvious that the city has a lot to offer in terms of historical and cultural highlights. The old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and consists of a labyrinth of cobblestone streets, immaculately restored palaces, mansions with flower-decorated balconies, beautiful courtyards, imposing churches and monasteries, and many good restaurants and cafés. Cartagena is colorful and cheerful!

The San Bernardo Archipelago is a group of islands in the Caribbean Sea. The archipelago consists of ten islands, all belonging to Colombia. The islands are located about 20 kilometers off the South American coast and about 80 kilometers southwest of the city of Cartagena. Together with the Islas del Rosario, the archipelago is one of the 63 existing national and nature parks in Colombia. 

In the middle of the San Bernardo Archipelago lies the small island Isla Mucurá - a paradise in the Caribbean and your dream destination of the travel module described below. 

Isla Mucurá is a green island with tropical vegetation, in which small mangrove areas are located. Numerous corals surround the area, so that the island is also ideal for divers and snorkelers. The fine sandy beach and the Caribbean water shimmering in numerous shades of blue and green invite you to experience pure Caribbean feeling.
